SENATOR MANNION HONORS SYRACUSE RESIDENT CORNELIA
October 7, 2021
SYRACUSE, NY – Senator John W. Mannion (D-Geddes) honored Cornelia Garvin Kinney on becoming Syracuse’s newest centenarian with an official Senate Proclamation.
Senator Mannion said, “Those who know Cornelia best describe her as tough but kind and at the center of a large and loving family. It was an honor to join her loved ones to recognize not only her longevity but also her wit, wisdom, and sharp sense of humor."
Born on October 6, 1921, in Oneida, NY, Cornelia taught at the Maria Regina Catholic Junior College for many years. Along with her husband John Kinney, they had six children, twelve grandchildren, and four great-children. She was an avid golfer and tennis player well into her 80’s and she continues to live independently.
So, what is Cornelia’s secret to a long life? She attributes it to a daily helping of golden raisins soaked in gin!
