Addabbo: Speak up on how you would improve New York's voting process
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.
September 9, 2021
In an attempt to further strengthen voter protections and the election process, the New York State Senate wants to hear from voters about their experiences and suggestions for improving the state’s elections, and State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. wants your voice to be heard.
The Senate Elections Committee recently held a series of statewide public hearings on improving the voting process and measures to protect voting rights. The hearings, which were previously held in Brooklyn, Rochester, Syracuse and Westchester, featured a combination of voters, poll workers and activists who shared their experiences and suggestions for improving elections administration in New York State.
Over the next month, the Elections Committee is continuing to accept written statements from voters on their experiences and the ideas they have on how to improve the voting process.
“Voting is one of our most precious rights, and working to ensure that our elections are safe, efficient and fair is vital,” Addabbo said. “Now, voters have the chance to speak up and share their experiences — both good and bad — with New York’s registering and voting process, as well as provide suggestions on how we can improve our elections. I encourage all voters to make their voices heard and help protect the integrity of our voting procedure.”
The information gathered in these written testimonies will be reviewed and the committee will use these statements to inform their next steps, including the questioning of local and state election officials at the final hearing on September 21 in Albany.
Voters who wish to participate can visit the Senate website here https://bit.ly/3yDh5F8 to provide their feedback.
