Senate Agriculture Chair Michelle Hinchey Announces Listening Tour to Hear Directly from Farmers, Food and Agriculture Community
February 2, 2021
Albany, NY…As the newly appointed Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, State Senator Michelle Hinchey (SD-46) invites agriculture businesses, workers, organizations, and advocacy groups to share their thoughts and concerns as part of a virtual listening tour that will help the Senator and members of the Agriculture Committee create a roadmap to strengthen New York agriculture. Those interested in participating should visit tinyurl.com/Aglisteningtour to register. The tour will take place virtually during the weeks of February 15 and February 22.
“Our agricultural community needs a seat at the policy table,” said Senator Hinchey. “As Senate Agriculture Chair, I believe that the best way to set our priorities for this legislative session is to hear directly from farmers, workers, and agribusiness owners about the problems they face and what we can do at the state level to find practical solutions. We hope to bring together a diverse group of representatives from every corner of our agriculture industry and are looking forward to having a productive conversation.”
Speakers will be accommodated on a first-registered, first-served basis. Depending on interest, more sessions may be added later in the year to accommodate all who wish to speak.
Senator Michelle Hinchey represents the 46th Senate District, which includes Greene and Montgomery Counties and parts of Albany, Schenectady, and Ulster Counties. Senator Hinchey serves as Chair of the Agriculture Committee and sits on the Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business, Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation, Energy and Telecommunications, Environmental Conservation, and Local Government Committees.
