ALBANY, NY (September 2, 2021) – State Senator Michelle Hinchey (SD-46), who chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, issued the following statement after the Legislature approved Governor Kathy Hochul’s chosen nominees to lead the state Cannabis Control Board (CCB) and Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). Tremaine Wright will serve as Chair of the Cannabis Control Board and Christopher Alexander as the Executive Director of the Office of Cannabis Management.
With the appointments of Tremaine Wright to CCB Board Chair and Christopher Alexander to OCM Executive Director, we are finally launching the country’s most equitable and diversified cannabis program right here in New York. This industry will foster economic growth for our municipalities and financial stability for upstate farmers, small businesses owners, and working people across the state. We have seen tremendous excitement and eagerness to get New York’s commercial cannabis program up and running, and we have a responsibility to do so as soon as possible. I look forward to our continued work to build this industry as a pillar of New York’s agricultural sector."
