Senator Hinchey Announces Over $13 Million to Fix Local Bridges and Culverts in the Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley, and Capital Region

ALBANY, NY – Senator Michelle Hinchey (SD-46) today announced that $13,864,000 in funding through the State’s BRIDGE NY program has been awarded to communities in her 5-county Senate District to rebuild and rehabilitate local bridges and culverts across Albany, Greene, Montgomery, Schenectady, and Ulster Counties. The funding announced is part of $216.2 million in state assistance going to 109 projects statewide to reduce the risk of flooding, make structures more climate-resilient, and increase regional economic competitiveness.

Senator Michelle Hinchey said, “As the impacts of climate change bring more severe weather to New York State, funding to modernize our aging bridges and water infrastructure is crucial to protect our homes and businesses, revive local economies, and ensure that every person traveling in our area can easily and safely go about their day. This funding through the BRIDGE NY program could not come at a more important time for upstate and capital region communities, which deserve this level of state support as we await further aid from federal infrastructure dollars. I will continue to fight for more equitable investment in our transportation and water channels, and I thank Governor Hochul for helping our municipalities drive these important projects forward.”

Projects in Albany, Greene, Montgomery, Schenectady, and Ulster Counties that have been selected for BRIDGE NY funding are below.


ALBANY COUNTY

• $835,000 to the Town of Guilderland for the replacement of the Grand Street culvert carrying the Bozen Kill Tributary

GREENE COUNTY

• $1.165 million to the Town of Cairo for the replacement of Polly's Rock Road bridge over Kiskatom Brook
• $985,000 to the Town of Catskill for the replacement of the Game Farm Road culvert carrying tributary to Kiskatom Brook
  
   

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

• $2.837 million to the Village of Canajoharie for the superstructure replacement of the Incinerator Road bridge over Canajoharie Creek

SCHENECTADY COUNTY

• $985,000 to Schenectady County for the replacement of the Sanders Road (CR38) culvert carrying Washout Creek
• $963,000 to Schenectady County for the replacement of the Old River Road (CR1) culvert carrying the tributary of the Mohawk River
   

ULSTER COUNTY

• $4.095 million to Ulster County for the replacement of the County Road 54 bridge over the Beaver Kill  
• $1.999 million to the Town of Rochester for the replacement of the Boice Mill Road bridge over Falls Mill Brook
