KINGSTON, NY – Today, State Senator Michelle Hinchey (SD-46) announced that her office has successfully closed 608 constituent cases for residents of New York’s 46th Senate District on issues ranging from broadband service to unemployment insurance, rent and mortgage relief, small business assistance and clean water access. Hinchey’s team is comprised of five full-time constituent services representatives, including two Spanish-speaking staff, who work across the Senator’s offices in Kingston (Ulster County), Amsterdam (Montgomery County), and Albany (Albany County).
Hinchey announced today that both her Kingston and Amsterdam offices are now open to constituents for in-person meetings after six months of providing remote services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hinchey is also in the process of opening an office in Guilderland (Albany County), which will be open daily.
“Constituent Services is the core of everything we do as a Senate office, and there is no greater example of that than solving constituent problems and being the place community members know they can turn to for assistance,” said Senator Michelle Hinchey. “In just six months, we’ve helped over 600 people with issues that have been plaguing them for months, and in some cases, years. Public service is about helping people by delivering life-improving results, and that’s exactly what my office is here to do. I’m incredibly proud of my team who have worked around the clock to meet constituents’ needs in any way we can. We’re so pleased to announce that our offices in Kingston and Amsterdam are now open for in-person assistance so that we can reach more community members in need.”
Senator Hinchey represents the 46th Senate District, which includes five counties — all of Greene and Montgomery Counties and parts of Albany, Schenectady, and Ulster Counties. Given the district’s expansive coverage area, Hinchey and her team have worked to bring constituent services directly to people across all 1,899 square miles. Since taking office in January of 2021, Hinchey’s team has hosted 33 office events, including community Narcan trainings, food and toiletry drives, park clean-ups, blood drives, and information sessions on cancer services, Lyme disease, and the state’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

"I contacted Senator Hinchey's office because I was told they could help. I was unpaid for 7 months of benefit disbursement release. From the moment I was put in touch with Emma, she was excellent with keeping me informed and made sure our benefits were released and our family was safe and secure. From the first contact to release was 6 weeks. Thank you so much to all of you at Senator Hinchey’s office and thank you Emma for always checking in once a week even after the issue was resolved.”

“After spending many years in public service and working with different Legislators, I was never more impressed with the people in Senator Hinchey’s office for their ability to reach out to us and follow through with helping secure vaccinations. Senator Hinchey’s staff understands constituent services and understands that her role is to represent constituents not just in legislation. I saw such a fresh sense of enthusiasm from Senator Hinchey and her team. Her office has shown me that the government can truly be a friend of the people.”
