Senator Hinchey Reacts to 2021 State of the State, Highlights Broadband, Green Jobs, and Revenue Raisers

In the Governor’s State of the State address today, I was excited to see several areas of priority that will greatly impact our upstate communities as we build back from the COVID-19 pandemic—areas I’ve been advocating on since I began my campaign for State Senate. These areas include: raising revenue through cannabis legalization and ensuring that the ultra-wealthy are shouldering their fair share of the economic burden, creating a green jobs workforce and making New York a clean energy leader, and closing the urban-rural broadband gap once and for all,” said Senator Hinchey. “We’re excited to work with the Governor on all of these critical areas, especially broadband, which has become a basic necessity during COVID-19. While affordability is important, we need to focus on getting the infrastructure throughout the state so that every home can be wired for broadband. I look forward to seeing more details along with his other priorities as they roll out over the next few weeks and will work to make sure that they take into account the needs of our upstate communities.”  

Senator Michelle Hinchey represents the 46th Senate District, which includes Greene and Montgomery Counties and parts of Albany, Schenectady, and Ulster Counties.
