ALBANY, NY – Senator Mike Martucci (R, C, I – New Hampton) issued the following statement in response to the majority in the state Senate passing a package of election-related bills:
“Today I voted against several election-related bills, passed by the Senate Majority, that put the burden of cost onto local governments and taxpayers at exactly the worst time — while we are attempting to defeat and recover from a global pandemic. Some of these ideas are well-intentioned, while others are driven purely by partisan politics. Regardless of the intention, overall, these bills impose new, unfunded mandates on our county governments. This unaccountable style of governance has been going on for far too long in Albany and it is a major concern for the people of my district. I was elected to be a part of the solution, not a part of the same old, one-size-fits-all approach that has continuously failed us. I voted with that in mind today and I intend to continue to hold that as my guiding principle moving forward.”
Mike Martucci is serving his first term as the Senator for the 42nd NYS Senate District which comprises all of Sullivan County and parts of Orange, Ulster and Delaware counties. He is the ranking member of the Senate Committees on Developmental Disabilities and Small Business, Commerce and Economic Development. Mike is a small businessman who employed hundreds of people locally at his former company, Quality Bus Service, which was responsible for safely transporting thousands of school children each day in and near the 42nd senate district. Mike and his wife Erin own a family-farm in the Town of Westtown and established a family foundation to support local women and children in need, educational opportunities, job creation, and agriculture initiatives. Mike and Erin have three children and live in the Town of Wawayanda.
