Statement from Senator Mike Martucci

“This morning, I urged Governor Cuomo to immediately ease the mask mandate he imposed on children in schools. This was particularly necessary and prudent as temperatures rise while cases of COVID-19 continue to drop, and because the Governor’s policy on this issue had not been revised since April, before the CDC issued new mask-wearing guidance.

“Thankfully, the Governor has now decided to loosen his mask mandate in schools and allow local institutions to set policies that reflect their unique needs – something that should have been permitted months ago.

“This is a welcomed change for our students and parents, and it’s another example demonstrating what we can accomplish when we use our collective voice to call for commonsense changes.”
