"I was proud to co-sponsor legislation, signed into law this weekend by Governor Hochul, making the Nourish New York program permanent and supporting our local farmers and food banks. Nourish New York has created a stronger connection between our hardworking farmers and community-based food banks, helped farmers sell their surplus products, and expanded access to fresh, locally-grown foods. Food insecurity impacts many families across our area and throughout the state. No one should struggle to feed their children or put food on the table. With the signing of this bill, Nourish New York will continue to make a difference for our local farmers and families.”
Since Nourish New York launched in spring 2020, over 35 million pounds of surplus agricultural products have been directly purchased from more than 4,100 farms and food producers across the state.
