Senator Helming Sponsors Red Cross Blood Drive May 22 in Canandaigua

Senator Pam Helming is joining the American Red Cross to sponsor a community blood drive on Saturday, May 22 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Canandaigua American Legion Post 256, 454 North Main Street, Canandaigua.

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.RedCrossBlood.org, by phone at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App.

Senator Helming said, “Donating blood is one of the most impactful ways you can help others and support your community. Your donation could help save someone’s life in an emergency. It could help a child being treated for cancer, an adult experiencing complications during surgery, or a senior with a chronic illness. I encourage everyone who is eligible to give blood to please consider a donation on May 22.”

Alan H. Turner II, Regional CEO, American Red Cross of Western New York said, “As the summer approaches, the American Red Cross encourages all eligible donors to give blood or platelets to make it a summer full of life for those patients in need. Thank you to Senator Helming for your support of the Red Cross mission and the people we serve.”

Every two seconds, someone is in need of blood and volunteer donors are the only source. Though the need for blood and platelets doesn’t let up, donations often decline this time of year as donors become busy with the start of summer.

Senator Helming said, “Thank you to everyone at the American Red Cross for their leadership and service to our communities, and to the Canandaigua American Legion for welcoming donors to the Legion for this blood drive.”
