“The Governor’s veto of this bipartisan bill to support the expansion of broadband is disappointing. However, the Legislature can take action right now to help expand high-speed internet access in our rural communities by acting on my bill (S.2659) to repeal the tax on fiber optic cable that has made broadband expansion projects cost-prohibitive for most installers.
“Expanding broadband is a top priority for me. It is especially important now, when more people are relying on high-speed internet access for remote work and school. I also continue to advocate for our district’s needs to the Public Service Commission, and I remain in contact with them about the progress of expansion in my district.”
