Reminder: Ritchie to Host "Drive-Thru Drug Take Back" Thursday in Ogdensburg
October 19, 2021
State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding people she will host a “Drive-Thru Drug Take Back” event on Thursday, October 21st in Ogdensburg in an effort to help people clean out their medicine cabinets, protect the environment and improve community safety.
The event, which is being made possible with assistance from the City of Ogdensburg Police Department, will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center Parking Lot (141 West River Street).
“Getting rid of medications in a responsible way helps to protect the environment, as well as community safety by ensuring these substances do not end up in the wrong hands,” said Senator Patty Ritchie. “I encourage anyone who has a medicine cabinet they need to clean out to take advantage of this opportunity to easily—and safely—get rid of medications that are expired, or they no longer need.”
At the event, any unused or expired medications will be accepted, with the exception of needles, and syringes. Those who cannot attend can click here for information on where prescription drugs can safely be disposed of.
Last week, nearly 370 pounds of expired and unwanted medications were disposed of at a similar event hosted by Senator Ritchie in Watertown.
