ONEONTA, 06/15/21 -- State Senator Peter Oberacker (R/C – Schenevus) reacted to the governor’s announcement regarding the end of most COVID-19 restrictions.
“The end of most COVID restrictions in New York State is welcome news. However, the governor’s thinly veiled campaign rally failed to include one very important detail – is he lifting the state’s emergency declaration and ending his extraordinary powers? Once again, the governor makes grand claims and leaves everyone scrambling to sort out the details.
“Let’s thank our neighbors who helped get us through this historic pandemic - front line health workers, first responders, police, small business owners, farmers, grocery store employees, teachers, local municipal officials - to name a few.
“There is a great deal of work left to rebuild our Main Streets, get people back to work, and ensure future opportunities across our state, especially in the rural regions I represent. We need a lot more than a few fireworks (none in the 51st Senate District, by the way) to move New York forward.”
