Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt Honors Ashleigh Stornelli As Woman Of Distinction

Today, Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt recognized Deputy Ashleigh Stornelli of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office as his nominee for New York State’s “Women of Distinction” Class of 2021.

Deputy Stornelli is a Lyndonville native, a graduate of Lyndonville Central School and Genesee Community College, where she earned her Associates’ Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2014, Ashleigh raised her hand and joined the Army National Guard Military Police Officer. After graduating from the 42nd Military Police Company in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Deputy Stornelli was at the 222nd Military Police Company in Rochester, New York, for the next six years.

Over the course of her time serving our nation, Ashleigh had the values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage ingrained in her. To this day, she continues to live by these values.

“Ashleigh is a special individual who has dedicated her life to protecting not only our community but also our nation,” said Sen. Ortt. “Her commitment to creating a safe learning environment for our children while also cultivating a positive relationship between our youth and law enforcement should be commended. We are grateful to have an individual such as her as our neighbor, and I am proud to have her as my nominee for New York State’s ‘Women of Distinction Class of 2021.”

In July of 2016, Ashleigh began her career in law enforcement at the Holley Police Department. As a Holley Police Officer, she developed a passion for working closely with her community and local school district. She actively participated in community events and holiday festivities and developed a close relationship with the Holley School District’s students and staff.

In 2018, Ashleigh took her career to the next level – joining the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office. She continues to work at the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office and credits her success to the support and backing of her brothers and sisters in blue, including phenomenal role models and administration Sheriff Christopher Bourke, Undersheriff Michael Mele, and Chief Jeffrey Gifaldi.

Some of Ashleigh’s favorite events to work at include the yearly Veterans and Memorial Day ceremonies, the Strawberry Festival, and the Lyndonville Fourth of July event.

Ashleigh, who is certified in the Mental Health and Crisis Intervention team and will soon be certified in the Child and Safety Seat Course, is currently assigned to the Kendall Central School as the School Resource Deputy. She takes pride in being an educator, counselor, and valuable resource for students and staff. She looks forward to fulfilling her duties each day and making a positive connection by having honest conversations and a snack from the students’ favorite SRD.

Ashleigh is a proud mother, wife, daughter, sister, and aunt. She is blessed with two beautiful children, Iziah Rodriguez (10 years old) and Elliana Stornelli (9 months old), that she raises with her best friend and very devoted, loving husband, Trey Stornelli.
