Today, Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt recognized The Lockstone and the Wasuck family with the “Small Business of the Month” for September. In 2018, John Hernandez and Natasha Wasuck purchased their 11,000 ft² facility with hopes of renovating it into a wedding and event venue.
After a complete renovation of the facility, they are now able to host events and weddings for up to 300 people. Along with the wedding venue, the family also converted the adjacent spaces into an ice cream shop, Tinsel, and “The Kitchen,” a private event room used for celebrations and community meetings. Tinsel, an ode to the Christmas and Santa Clause history of Albion and Orleans County, opened in 2019.
“The Wasuck family are the embodiment of America's entrepreneurial spirit and made their shared vision a reality,” said Sen. Ortt. “I applaud their initiative and hard work, and they are proving to be instrumental in the revitalization of downtown Albion. I am hopeful that other business owners in the area will see the incredible work that is being done and join them in investing in our Albion community.”
“For over three years, we’ve been working to bring life to this historic building along the Erie Canal,” said Natasha Wasuck. “We hope that this will encourage other businesses in the village of Albion to do the same. We see this as an opportunity to ‘create the community you want to be a part of’ here in Albion. We recognize the importance of the Erie Canal for tourism and appreciate the unique history our village has to offer.”
