Senator Brouk Issues Proclamation to Noodle the Pug in Observance of Senior Pet Month
November 24, 2021
ROCHESTER, NY - Senator Samra Brouk issued a proclamation to Noodle the Pug today in honor of Senior Pet Month. The ceremony was held at Lollypop Farm, and was a call to action to encourage the community to adopt a senior pet. Noodle, a thirteen year old pug, became a TikTok sensation with daily predictions as to whether or not it would be a “Bones Day” or “No Bones Day”.
Senator Samra Brouk said, “Noodle and Jonathan have taught us that we’re all capable of creating and sharing joy- and that it’s okay to have days where you take things slow and prioritize your needs. I am honored to present them with a proclamation in gratitude for the joy they have shared with our community and beyond, but also to draw attention to the importance of adopting a senior pet.”
Alice Calabrese, President & CEO of Lollypop Farm said, “We are grateful to Senator Brouk and Jonathan Graziano for creating awareness for senior pets. Older pets are often overlooked in the shelter in favor of kittens and puppies, but they still have lots of love to give. It’s heart-warming to see so many people experience the joy a senior pet, like Noodle, can provide their family. We hope it inspires some to adopt a senior pet in need.”
Jonathan Graziano said, “I adopted Noodle at seven and a half years old, which is a lot older than most people adopt their pets. It was great because he came sort of “pre-programmed” and knew the basics, like where his favorite spot on the couch is! Kidding aside, and pun intended, it has been incredibly rewarding to give him a soft place to land. I’m so happy that what we have been doing has been resonating with people. I think it shows that we all need a little joy, and to be kind to ourselves and to one another. I would encourage anyone who is considering adopting a pet to consider adopting an older pet, because they have just as much love to give you.”
Noodle Graziano declined to comment, but gave a resounding “Woof!” in support of the day’s activities.
