Rochester, NY - Senator Brouk has issued the following statement regarding the Senate's vote to repeal the temporary emergency powers that the legislature granted to the Governor last year at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic:
"My job as Senator is to represent the needs of my community and be responsive to what is happening in our district and in our state. Much more is known about COVID-19 today than one year ago, when the Legislature initially granted Governor Cuomo temporary executive powers to respond quickly to this emerging pandemic. The Senate's vote today to repeal these executive powers will allow the legislature to once again provide oversight as a co-equal branch of government while we continue to navigate COVID-19 and its impact on our communities. Our action today will ultimately give residents of the 55th District more say in the decisions that impact them and provide much-needed transparency and oversight into the process of keeping New Yorkers safe during this pandemic."
