Senator Sean Ryan Joins NeighborWorks, Grant Amherst Business Association To Unveil Streetscape Improvements Funded By The Better Buffalo Fund

SENATOR SEAN RYAN JOINS NEIGHBORWORKS, GRANT AMHERST BUSINESS ASSOCIATION TO UNVEIL STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS FUNDED BY THE BETTER BUFFALO FUND

Improvements Were Funded By $20,000 Grant Secured By Senator Ryan

BUFFALO On Thursday, May 20, 2021, New York State Senator Sean Ryan joined representatives from NeighborWorks Community Partners and the Grant Amherst Business Association to unveil streetscape improvements in the Grant Amherst neighborhood. The improvements were funded by a $20,000 grant that Senator Ryan helped secure through the Buffalo Main Streets Initiative.

The project includes seven photographic monuments that feature historic images from the Grant Amherst neighborhood and welcome visitors to Black Rock. Photographs are laser-etched onto both sides of the seven-foot stainless steel towers, many of which have been installed at the locations depicted on the panels. Also included within the streetscape portion of the grant are five new stainless steel garbage receptacle enclosures.

The Buffalo Main Streets Initiative is funded through the Better Buffalo Fund, which has dedicated $40 million to support projects that enhance the development of vibrant mixed-use neighborhoods, encourage density and growth along transportation corridors, and revitalize commercial corridors in the City of Buffalo. It is administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal in conjunction with Empire State Development.

Senator Sean Ryan said, “Buffalo’s revival has been a product of the intense pride Buffalonians have in our city and its history. Projects like this one, which makes improvements to the community while embracing the spirit of one of our historic neighborhoods, help continue that resurgence.”
