Senate Elections Committee Hold Public Hearing in Westchester

(White Plains, NY) – On Monday, Aug. 9, the New York State Senate Committee on Elections will hold a public hearing for voters across the Hudson Valley to share their experiences, suggestions and ideas for improving elections in New York. The hearing will take place at the Westchester County Center starting at 10 a.m.
The hearing is sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Chair of the Senate Elections Committee Senator Zellnor Y. Myrie, Elections Committee Member Senator Shelley B. Mayer, Senator Pete Harckham and Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick.
Voters can sign up to provide testimony in person or in writing by visiting the New York State Senate website. Those interested in providing testimony in person are encouraged to sign up at least 72 hours in advance. Walk-ins will be allowed the day of the event.
Masks will be required at the Westchester County Center.
This hearing is part of a series sponsored by the New York State Senate Committee on Elections. So far, hearings have been held in New York City, Syracuse and Rochester. The final hearing will take place on Sept. 21 in Albany, and will feature testimony from and questioning of members of local and state boards of elections, as well as voters, advocates and other stakeholders.
