STATEMENT FROM SENATOR SUE SERINO
February 12, 2021
HYDE PARK, NY—Senator Sue Serino today released the following statement in response to news that a top-ranking member of the Governor’s Administration has admitted to deliberately withholding information aboutCOVID-19 deaths in New York’s nursing homes:
“This administration has shown a callous disregard for these vulnerable residents and their families for months, but this stunning admission is a tragic new low. News of the audio recording erases any doubt that may have remained of a cover-up by the state. It could not be more clear that a thorough, independent investigation of the state’s handling of the COVID crisis in our nursing homes must be launched immediately.
This is politics at its absolute worst and only strengthens our resolve to fight for justice and accountability for these residents and their loved ones.”
