- Governor COVID-19 Book Deal
HYDE PARK, NY – Senator Sue Serino released the following statement in response to the revelation that the Governor is set to earn a staggering $5.12 million for his COVID-19 book deal:
“A state leader profiting so brazenly off of one of New York’s greatest tragedies is an unprecedented new low. It demonstrates a complete lack of genuine empathy and compassion for all those who have been impacted, and only reaffirms that for Andrew Cuomo, politics and profit come before the well-being of the people of this state.
Writing the book in the middle of a global pandemic was horrifying enough, now we know he used state resources to do it, hid data on nursing home deaths that could have jeopardized the deal, and did all he could to delay our finding out the full scope of his profit. This Governor is not fit to lead, and any official who has refused to leverage their authority to truly hold him accountable for his actions during this time is complicit.
Every penny earned from this ‘deal’ should be immediately turned over to New York families impacted by his failed policies.”
