QUEENS- Senator Toby Ann Stavisky visited Elmhurst Hospital to receive her annual flu shot. During her visit, the Senator was joined by Elmhurst Hospital CEO Helen Arteaga Landaverde, who received her shot at the same time. NYC Health & Hospitals offer the flu vaccine at a variety of locations at no out-of-pocket cost to the recipient.
“While the COVID-19 vaccine remains in the headlines, it is important not to forget about the dangers of the flu,” says Senator Toby Ann Stavisky. “Getting my flu shot at Elmhurst Hospital was quick, easy and safe. It didn't hurt and my arm wasn’t sore. The COVID-19 vaccine does not protect against the flu, so I encourage everyone to get the shot and protect themselves and others this season.”
“NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is happy to partner with New York State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky to promote seasonal flu shots this year,” said Helen Arteaga Landaverde, MPH, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst. “With COVID-19 and flu season occurring together, it is more important than ever to protect yourself and loved ones from getting sick. We urge both children and adults to get vaccinated against the flu as soon as possible”.
Over the last five years, Senator Stavisky has proudly secured State funding for a variety of improvements to Elmhurst Hospital including vans and surgical equipment.
