Senator Toby Ann Stavisky Honors Queens Resident Mary Maggio Fischer as a 2021 Woman of Distinction

QUEENS, NY- Senator Toby Ann Stavisky is proud to announce that she has named Mary Maggio Fischer the 2021 Woman of Distinction for the Senate’s 16th District.
“To say that Mary is active in our community is quite the understatement,” says Senator Stavisky. “Mary has taken on many causes and challenges throughout the years, and I have always admired her level of commitment. As the President of the Georgetown Mews Co-op, Ms. Fischer has done stellar work in navigating major capital improvement projects while ensuring fair costs for residents. If Ms. Fischer is an advocate for your cause or organization, you can be assured that you are in good hands. Mary Maggio Fischer is truly deserving of this honor.”
Ms. Fischer’s professional life is also one of service. She has worked as a Patient Care Technician at Flushing Hospital for 40 years, acting as a delegate for SEIU Local 1199. She is also a champion for public health as a volunteer with LiveOn New York, and by raising awareness in the fight to defeat cystic fibrosis, in memory of her late daughter.
“I am both humbled and honored to have been chosen from the many women within the district of Senator Toby Ann Stavisky to receive the Woman of Distinction Award,” says Mary Maggio Fischer. “Senator Stavisky has been a leader for all her constituents and I am proud to not only call her my senator but also my friend.
