Kaminsky Helps Five Towns Child Care Centers Secure More Than $44,000 in Grant Funding
January 6, 2021
(Rockville Centre, New York) — Today, Senator Todd Kaminsky announced that he helped secure $44,000 in grant funding for Five Towns child care centers to help defray the cost of COVID-related modifications to keep children and staff safe, while enhancing learning opportunities. Inwood-based Five Towns Early Learning Center was awarded roughly $14,500 and Congregation Sons of Israel was given a grant for more than $30,000.
The grants that Senator Kaminsky helped secure were administered by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services through funding from the federal CARES Act.
“Safe, quality child care for our kids is more important now than ever,” said Senator Todd Kaminsky. “I am confident that this vital funding will go a long way for children, teachers and parents alike, while ensuring they stay safe during this most difficult time.”
The child care facilities will use the grant funding that Senator Kaminsky helped secure to procure personal protective equipment and other materials, in addition to bolstering services and ensuring children are educated and cared for in a COVID-safe manner. The Five Towns Early Learning Center will also use the funding to enhance remote learning capabilities as well.
“Congregation Sons of Israel, Woodmere is grateful to Senator Todd Kaminsky for his support in assisting us to help secure this grant funding. The grant will be immensely helpful as we continue to provide Early Childhood Day Care services to the greater community during this pandemic and beyond,” said Executive & Educational Director Harriet Gefen.
