Senator Biaggi Issues Statement on Implementation of the Sexual Harassment Hotline
July 20, 2022
ALBANY, NY – Yesterday, the New York State Division of Human Rights announced the rollout of the state’s new hotline for issues of workplace sexual harassment (1-800-HARASS)(1-800-4272773). This confidential hotline will serve any employee who has faced sexual harassment by connecting them with pro-bono attorneys.
State Senator Alessandra Biaggi (D-Bronx/Westchester) issued the following statement:
“As the sponsor of this legislation, I am so proud to see New York roll out long overdue structures to ensure that those who experience sexual harassment in the workplace are best connected to the help they need. New Yorkers have made it clear that we will not tolerate any workplace that may silence, stifle and abuse survivors of sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is a historically pervasive issue that has run rampant in the workplace. Now, survivors across all sectors will have access to this meaningful tool, providing them with the opportunity to speak their truth and seek guidance when needed. I look forward to continuing the work to allow survivors to openly seek justice and to make New York a safer, harassment-free place to work.”
