Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today congratulated Saranac Lofts for receiving $6.5 million from the New York State Homes and Community Renewal Office to help it develop its mixed-income housing project. Located at the corners of Broadway and Depot St. in Saranac Lake, Saranac Lofts will be a 70-unit apartment complex for artists and mixed-income renters and will also serve as commercial space for a local non-profit.
“The $6.5 million in funding from the New York State Home and Community Renewal Office will help provide affordable housing in Saranac Lake and will serve as an economic boost as well,” said Stec. “Developing more affordable housing in our region has been an ongoing concern and when completed, Saranac Lofts will play a major role in addressing it.
“I’m glad to have supported the Lofts project from the beginning and I look forward to working with them to ensure it helps grow downtown Saranac Lake and improves our quality of life,” he added.
