Stec Congratulates Peru High Educator Leif Sorgule for $50,000 Harbor Freight National Teaching Prize

Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today joined Peru School District officials and representatives from Harbor Freight Tools to present a $50,000 award to Peru High School and Industrial Technology teacher Leif Sorgule as winners of the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence. Sorgule was one of 20 nationwide winners and was given $15,000, while the school’s skilled trades program received $35,000.
“Congratulations to Leif Sorgule and the Peru Central School District on being winners of one of the Harbor Freight Tools for Schools awards,” said Stec. “This national recognition is a testament to the hard work, knowledge and dedication put forth by Mr. Sorgule and the Peru High School faculty.
“It was an honor to join representatives from Harbor Freight and the Peru Central School District in presenting this prize in teaching excellence to the high school and Mr. Sorgule,” he added. “This award is much-deserved.”
