Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) welcomed local Queensbury middle school students to Albany on Wednesday and Thursday, as New York State Student Music Association (NYSSMA) performances have resumed after a two-year hiatus.
“After the pandemic forced this annual tradition to be paused for two years, it was a real treat to have Queensbury students back in Albany for NYSSMA performances,” said Stec. “This was a great opportunity for the Capital Region to see our excellent student-musicians and musical directors perform, and they brought their best. The ensembles and orchestras sounded phenomenal and it was an honor to see them play.”
The Queensbury NYSSMA performances on Wednesday and Thursday included sets by the:
- Chamber winds, directed by Patricia Cirillo;
- Brass ensemble, directed by Robert Michael;
- Jazz ensemble, directed by James Cirillo;
- Chamber orchestra, directed by Alyssa Verheyn; and
- 8th grade orchestra, directed by Greg Verheyn.
