March 18, 2022
HALFMOON, NY – In recognition of March as Red Cross Month, New York State Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I-Halfmoon) today proudly announced that she has been named a “2022 State Legislator of the Year” by the American Red Cross. The award was bestowed in recognition of Senator Jordan’s unwavering support of the vital mission of the American Red Cross to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
Senator Jordan was saluted for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the American Red Cross this year, and throughout her tenure in the New York State Senate, and took part in a virtual recognition ceremony today hosted by the American Red Cross. Senator Jordan was the only state legislator recognized with the honor for the entirety of New York State’s Eastern Region.
“It’s an honor and a privilege being recognized as a 2022 New York State Legislator of the Year by the American Red Cross. I’m proud to have a strong, productive partnership with such an impactful organization that turns compassion into action by assisting people all over the world in the face of disaster. Because of hardworking volunteers and generous donors, the American Red Cross can provide care, shelter, and hope to people who may be facing the biggest crisis of their lives. I look forward to our continued partnership in even more community events in April, May, and beyond. I thank the American Red Cross for this important recognition,” Senator Jordan said.
In addition to providing care in times of disaster, the American Red Cross also provides emergency preparedness and first aid training, blood drives and donations, and support to military members and their families.
Senator Jordan first participated as a doorstep educator with the American Red Cross in a “Sound the Alarm” event that provides fire safety education to a neighborhood where there has been devastation by fire. In 2021, Senator Jordan sponsored successful, fully attended community blood drives in the City of Hudson, the City of Saratoga Springs, and the Town of Poestenkill, respectively. Senator Jordan will again partner with the American Red Cross in sponsoring additional community blood drives in 2022 beginning in the City of Troy (May 23), and the City of Saratoga Springs (May 26), as well as sponsoring an emergency preparedness seminar in Clifton Park (April 28).
