Statement from NYS Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I-Halfmoon) on the resignation of NYS Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin:
April 12, 2022
This morning, after his arrest, I again called for a thorough, public, and independent investigation into the alleged corruption of Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin as I did back on March 1. I said if he was found guilty of the serious charges, he needed to resign his public office. The Lieutenant Governor submitted his resignation this afternoon and I’m glad that he did so. The Lieutenant Governor’s resignation marks the latest chapter in a seemingly never-ending book of corruption that has sadly come to define Albany and stain our state government. Today was another example of why we need true checks and balances in state government and an end to One-Party Rule that invites political corruption.
