Tedisco & Walsh Honor NYS Submarine Veterans

Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Glenville) and Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) on May 11th at the state Capitol honored U.S. Navy Submarine Veterans from New York State by passing a resolution they authored and presenting a copy of it to U.S. Navy veteran Jim Irwin of Clifton Park.
Jim Irwin, a member of the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame, served in the Navy from 1966 to 1970 and was assigned to the nuclear powered submarine USS Theodore Roosevelt where he served as the ship's small arms petty officer and was certified as a nuclear weapons handler.
After leaving the service, Jim worked as a U.S. Treasury Department Customs Patrol Officer and Inspector and became very involved in veterans service organizations. He helped found the Albany-Saratoga Submarine Veterans and has served as its Base Commander since 2012. He was a driving force behind creation of the NYS Submariners Memorial in Ballston Spa to honor all those members of the silent service who gave their lives so we could be free.

Patriots like Jim Irwin have played a key role over the year's in defending our country and maintaining our freedom and liberty as part of the greatest fighting force on Earth for good: the men and women of the U.S. military," said Senator Jim Tedisco.
