In response to the announcement, Chair of the Senate Labor Committee Jessica Ramos (D, WF - SD13) issued the following statement:
"The treatment of minor leaguers has long been a blight on baseball. Working with minor leaguers over the past few months, I learned of the sacrifices these workers and their families make in hopes of a dream. Being a minor league player should be much more akin to an apprenticeship than indentured servitude. Any effort to improve the quality of life and compensate these workers in a way that recognizes their contributions to MLB is welcome. I urge MLB to not interfere with any of these efforts. I am rooting for the union’s success, and stand ready to assist when necessary.
