AUBURN, NY— Senator John W. Mannion today inducted Auburn resident Nick Valenti into the NYS Senate Veterans Hall of Fame at a special ceremony during his Veterans Resource Fair at Cayuga Community College.
“Today – on Flag Day 2022 – we honored Nick Valenti of Auburn and all the men and women of Central New York who have worn the uniform. A Marine and Vietnam Veteran, Nick Valenti has lived a life of service to his country and his community. He has spent decades as a tireless advocate for his fellow Veterans including 18 years as an American Legion Post Commander and co-chairing the effort that brought The Wall That Heals to Cayuga County.”
A proud Marine, Nick is currently serving his tenth year as the NYS Central District Director for the Vietnam Veterans of America. He has served as the American Legion Post Commander and the VVA 704 Chapter President. He has been a member of the NYS Veterans Service Officer Association and a County Service Officer. He frequently represents Cayuga County at regional and National Vietnam Veteran conferences and events.
Mr. Valenti has been involved in sixty-three community projects during the past decade and was co- chair in bringing The Wall That Heals to Cayuga County. This effort allowed 8000 visitors to visit the exhibit and provided an opportunity for many who would not ever be able to visit The Wall in Washington, DC. Nick Valenti was also instrumental in a 15-year project to design, create and make a reality The Cayuga County Vietnam Veterans Memorial and In Memory Program.
Mr. Valenti works tirelessly to provide significant opportunities for Veterans and our community residents. He has also been a vocal advocate regarding the dire effects of Agent Orange on our Veterans.
Senator Mannion inducted Mr. Valenti into the Hall of Fame during his Veterans Resource Fair, a partnership with Cayuga County Veterans Services and Cayuga Community College to provide Central New York Veterans information about programs and services including health, employment, housing, and resources.
