Addabbo encourages students to submit their artwork for this year's NYS Senate Thanksgiving Day Celebration
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.
September 29, 2022
When we look ahead to the Thanksgiving holiday, we are reminded to reflect on the year that has passed and all the things we are grateful for. This year State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is encouraging students in his district to participate in the New York State Senate’s Thanksgiving Day Celebration by creating a piece of art that demonstrates what qualities they have that they are thankful for.
Participating students in Kindergarten through grade 12 can electronically submit — in jpeg or PDF format — an original poem, one-page essay, or artwork expressing what qualities they have that they are thankful for to Senator Addabbo’s website. All submissions will be published on Addabbo’s website, and participating students will receive a certificate from the Senator, thanking them for taking part in the celebration.
Teachers may also submit students’ artwork to Addabbo’s website.
“With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner, now is usually the time of year where we look back on what we have done throughout the year what we have to be thankful for,” Addabbo said. “I want to encourage the students in my district to let their creativity flow and show us — either in words or a piece of artwork — what qualities they possess that they are thankful for. Everyone has qualities that they can be proud of, whether that is being good at sports, getting good grades, or helping out around your community, and we are looking to celebrate all of our great qualities. Teachers and students can submit their works of art directly to my website, and all works submitted will be featured on my webpage for all to see. Let’s show everyone what we are thankful for this year!”
Submissions can be made at https://www.nysenate.gov/questionnaires/what-are-you-thankful. Deadline for entries is Friday, November 18, 2021.
If you have any questions about this endeavor, please contact Addabbo’s office at 718-738-1111.
