(Hempstead, NY) — New York State Senator Kevin Thomas honored Xtreme Fit Nutrition with the Empire Award in recognition of their significant contributions to the community of Hempstead. The award recognizes exceptional local businesses who have made a positive difference in New York State.
Located on 270 A Greenwich Street in Hempstead, Xtreme Fit is a Nutrition Center with a mission to “promote a healthy lifestyle, raise a message of change in the community regarding eating habits and good nutrition.” The family-owned business, which sells healthy smoothies, teas, and snacks, has been a fixture in Hempstead for over ten years. In addition to promoting health, fitness, and wellness in the Hempstead Community, Coaches and co-owners Lidia Cruz and Mauri Campoverde go above-and-beyond to help Hempstead families through volunteerism. Throughout the pandemic, Xtreme Fitness helped to collect and distribute fresh fruit, vegetables, and other essential grocery items to those in need. The business recently held a free Easter event for local youth.
“It is an honor to recognize this local business, who has done so much for the Hempstead community during an incredibly difficult time,” said Senator Kevin Thomas. “From donating healthy grocery items to families in need, to inspiring community members to eat healthier and get active, Xtreme Fit Nutrition Center has gone above-and-beyond to help our neighbors in need, and they are truly deserving of this distinguished recognition.”
