Regarding my bill S9571 that would grant driver's license reciprocity between the State of New York and the Dominican Republic, I have received from the Executive Director, Hugo Beras-Goico of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation of the Dominican Republic (INTRANT) a communication in which they positively welcome the initiative.
My bill establishes that once it becomes law, the New York Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) would enter into technical conversations with INTRANT to establish this reciprocity rule. In the next legislative session, I hope to bring this measure to the Senate for its approval and at the same time to be approved in the Assembly as presented by Assemblyman Manny de los Santos.
