I am proud to announce that Governor Kathy Hochul has signed my bill, S.9380, into law. This legislation extends the effectiveness of certain provisions relating to the establishment of certain water charges for hospitals and charities in New York City.
As a result, it would extend for two years a long-standing reduction in water charges offered to hospitals and other charitable organizations in New York City. The continuation of these exemptions will help to ease some of the financial burdens on these important institutions which have been monumental over the course of the pandemic as they provided vital services to our community.
Charities and hospitals are an important part of our community and provide an essential service to our people. I am happy to be able to help and partner with them in building a better society and thus continue to contribute to the well-being of our people.
