I am pleased to share with you the historic visit of the Honorable Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York City to the New York State Capitol on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022. The Honorable Consul General Eligio Jáquez was accompanied by a delegation from his office.
In February of this year, I had the privilege of being invited to the General Consulate of the Dominican Republic in New York City. Consul General Eligio Jáquez provided a tour of his offices and an overview of the types of services offered to the Dominican community. I was thrilled to meet many of my constituents while on the visit. Since then, we have strengthened our ties to ensure that we are servicing the needs of our shared constituency.
It is for this reason, and with great privilege, that I welcomed this important Consular Delegation to a historic visit to the New York State Capitol. I trust that by furthering the bond between the New York State Senate and the Dominican Consulate, we will be able to work in conjunction to better the lives of the Dominican community and New Yorkers at large.
I thank the Honorable Consul General Eligio Jáquez and his delegation for their efforts in favor of our community and for accepting my invitation.
