KINGSTON, NY – Senator Michelle Hinchey today released the following statement after joining community leaders and advocates, including Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan, health care workers from the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, and leadership from Westchester Medical to announce that 20 mental health and detox beds are coming to the HealthAlliance Hospital Mary’s Avenue Campus in Kingston:
“Today represents a major healthcare milestone in our continued fight against the opioid crisis and compounding mental health crisis ravaging our area–the result of a unified coalition of community leaders and advocates who I’ve been proud to work with to ensure we have the local, life-saving services our residents deserve,” Senator Michelle Hinchey said.
Hinchey continued, “That’s what these mental health and detox beds are–a lifeline for our community. I thank Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan, NYSNA, 1199SEIU and everyone in this coalition for their tireless efforts, and I thank Westchester Medical for their commitment to increasing vital healthcare services for our residents.”
