Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C-I, Elma) is joining the Resource Council of WNY’s Community Response – Love in Action Campaign to collect food and supplies for residents of the City of Buffalo impacted by the May 14 mass shooting at a Tops supermarket on Jefferson Avenue. The racially motivated attack left ten people dead and three others injured.
The Tops store remains closed, leaving the entire neighborhood without a place to buy food and other household items.
“This despicable act of violence has obviously had a devastating impact on the families of those killed and injured, but it also impacted the entire neighborhood,” Senator Gallivan said. “Tops is the only supermarket in that part of the city and residents relied on the store for groceries and other necessities. With the store still closed, many are struggling to get the food and personal care items then y need for their families.”
In addition to non-perishable food items, the Resource Council is in need of diapers, baby wipes, body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant and other toiletries. They are also asking for household cleaning supplies, laundry soap and paper towels.
“I encourage the community at large to help our neighbors in need and send a message of love and support.”
Donated items can be dropped off at Senator Gallivan’s District Office at 2721 Transit Road, Suite 116 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday – Friday. Donations will be accepted through June 10, 2022.
