Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C, Elma) is calling on Congress to provide additional money to the Restaurant Revitalization Fund. The program was established last year as part of the American Rescue Plan to help restaurants, bars, caterers, breweries, wineries and others in the industry impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Small businesses like restaurants and bars were hit especially hard by the lockdowns and restrictions associated with the pandemic and are in need of additional relief,” Senator Gallivan said. “I urge the federal government to allocate more money to the Restaurant Revitalization Fund to ensure that these businesses get the help they need to recover.”
The fund began with approximately $28 billion available to eligible businesses nationwide. The program was quickly depleted because of the high demand and many businesses that applied for funding did not receive it. A bill to provide another $60-billion to the RRF is pending in Congress.
Senator Gallivan recently sent a letter to the area’s Congressional delegation, asking representatives to support the legislation. The New York State Restaurant Association has also asked for the RRF to be re-funded.
