Ritchie Applauds More than $29 Million in Local Water Infrastructure Grants
April 19, 2022
State Senator Patty Ritchie is applauding an investment of more than $29 million into communities throughout Central and Northern New York, which will help municipalities move forward with critical infrastructure projects that will improve water quality and protect public health.
The New York State Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) grants are part of $638 million in funding awarded statewide by the Environmental Facilities Corporation for 199 water infrastructure projects. 15 of those projects are within Senator Ritchie’s district. The grants are expected not only to help improve water infrastructure, but also help support 35,000 jobs in communities across the state. They also represent the largest-ever award of WIIA grants in state history.
“Reliable infrastructure that provides clean water to our communities is of paramount importance,” said Senator Patty Ritchie.
“Many of the communities in our region receiving grants have contacted my office, seeking state support to help get their projects off the ground and I am thrilled to see them receive the assistance they need. These projects will not only help strengthen infrastructure, but also provide relief to hardworking taxpayers and at the same time, boost the economies of local communities.”
