Rural Schools Association of New York State Names Senator Rachel May Leader of the Year

(Cooperstown, NY) The Rural Schools Association of New York State names Senator Rachel May (D-Onondaga, Madison, Oneida)  Leader of the Year for her work and dedication to rural schools and communities. The RSA recognized Senator May with an award at its annual summer conference at The Otesaga in Cooperstown. 

Senator May has worked to ensure that the state government serves rural communities, including supporting better broadband access with the WIRED Act and municipal broadband, securing significant investments in new benefits and programs that greatly benefit farmers, and pushing for a Foundation Aid formula that works better for rural schools.

“I am honored that the Rural Schools Association of New York State named me Leader of the Year. I have the privilege of serving a unique Senate district because it includes one of the five largest cities in the state and an entire rural county. I am always looking at various issues, concerns, good ideas, and solutions that affect the large spectrum of communities in the state. I will continue to ensure we have a state government that serves all of New York,” Senator Rachel May said.
