ALBANY, NY – Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt was recognized today as having scored 100 percent on the voting scorecard from the 2021-22 legislative session by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), the state and nation’s leading small business advocacy association.
NFIB’s annual legislative scorecard tracked lawmakers’ votes on several key issues affecting small businesses that came before the Legislature, including tax relief, economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the restoration of the state’s Unemployment Insurance fund. On each of these issues, Senator Ortt consistently voted to support the best interests of the small business community.
“New York’s small businesses continue to grapple with severe economic hardships more than two years after the onset of the COVID pandemic. With rampant inflation, high fuel prices, and rising labor costs, now more than ever Main Street needs elected officials in Albany that will support pro-small business policies that keep their doors open and New Yorkers employed. Leader Rob Ortt's voting record shows that he is a proven champion of small businesses and NFIB thanks him for his unwavering dedication and leadership,” said Ashley Ranslow, NFIB’s New York State Director.
“Our small businesses are the heart and soul of our communities, and I will always proudly support and advocate for policies that help them thrive. Businesses in New York State face complex issues, particularly as the economy struggles to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s critically important for elected officials to foster an economic climate that helps our small businesses grow and prosper. NFIB does a tremendous job of educating lawmakers on the issues that are important to the business community, and I am proud to support their pro-business agenda one hundred percent,” said Senator Ortt.
Thirteen members of the New York State Senate Republican Conference and twenty members of the New York State Assembly scored 100 percent on the legislative scorecard.
