SENATOR SEAN RYAN HELPS PASS RESOLUTION COMMEMORATING MAY 4 AS VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS' APPRECIATION DAY
ALBANY – Today, May 4, 2022, New York State Senator Sean Ryan voted in favor of a resolution commemorating today as Volunteer Firefighters’ Appreciation Day in the State of New York. The resolution, sponsored by Senator Rachel May, was adopted to recognize and honor the many sacrifices New York’s volunteer firefighters make to serve their communities.
As the resolution states, “Firefighters dedicate their lives to the protection of life and property; sometimes that dedication is in the form of countless hours served and volunteered over many years, in others it is many selfless years working in the industry; in all cases, it risks the ultimate sacrifice of a firefighter's life.”
Senator Sean Ryan said, “Firefighters across the country heroically take great personal risk to provide an important, lifesaving service to their communities every day. It’s only right that we take a day to recognize those New Yorkers who volunteer their time in support of their fellow citizens.”
