SENATOR SEAN RYAN SECURES $500,000 IN STATE FUNDING FOR ORCHARD PARK

Senator Ryan Pushes Through State Grant Previously Reserved for Orchard Park Community Activity Center Construction Projects

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Today, February 16, 2022, New York State Senator Sean Ryan announced that $500,000 in funding from the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) is being released to the Town of Orchard Park.

The grant, secured within the State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM), provides $500,000 for the Orchard Park Community Activity Center. The grant was approved prior to the construction of the Community Activity Center, but administrative delays stalled the disbursement of the funds. Senator Ryan worked with Orchard Park Town Councilmember Conor Flynn to identify the cause of the delays and move the funding along. The project has already been completed, with the Town of Orchard Park waiting for reimbursement from DASNY.

The Orchard Park Community Activity Center, which opened in early 2020, is home to the town’s Senior Center and Recreation & Parks Department. The 59,000 sq. ft. complex hosts senior programs, youth sports, and other community activities.

Senator Sean Ryan said, “After a decade of planning, the Orchard Park Community Activity Center has been an incredible addition to the Orchard Park community. As the home of the town’s recreation programs and its senior center, it has something to offer residents of all ages. Now, the town will finally be able to receive the State funding that helped make the construction possible.”

Orchard Park Town Councilmember Conor Flynn said, “This is what happens when state and local representatives work together seamlessly to move their communities forward. By working with the office of State Senator Sean Ryan, we were able to return this money to Town of Orchard Park taxpayers.”
