SENATOR SEAN RYAN SECURES STATE GRANT TO FUND RECREATION IMPROVEMENTS IN ORCHARD PARK
New York State Commits $64,500 to Town of Orchard Park to Fund Upgrades at Orchard Park Community Activity Center
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Today, December 31, 2022, New York State Senator Sean Ryan announced that he has secured $64,500 in funding from the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) to fund improvement projects at the Orchard Park Community Activity Center.
The improvements include the installation of a bocce ball court and accessible swings, as well as a lighted sign for the Community Activity Center. The 59,000 sq. ft. complex is home to the town’s Senior Center and Recreation & Parks Department, and hosts senior programs, youth sports, and other community activities. Senator Ryan previously worked to unlock $500,000 of stalled DASNY funding to reimburse the Town of Orchard Park for a portion of construction costs for the Community Activity Center.
This grant, secured within the Local Community Assistance Program (LoCAP), will fund the bulk of the $102,000 project, with the remaining costs covered by the Town of Orchard Park. With the funding secured, the projects are expected to be completed in 2023.
Senator Sean Ryan said, “The Community Activity Center has been a great new addition to the Town of Orchard Park, providing entertainment for residents year-round. It has already been a major success, but these upgrades will provide more recreation options for visitors of all ages and abilities.”
Orchard Park Town Councilmember Conor Flynn said, “I am proud to have worked with Senator Sean Ryan to secure this funding for the residents of Orchard Park. The Senator cares about recreation and making Orchard Park a wonderful place to live. This funding will directly improve the lives of our working families and seniors. Thank you to Senator Ryan; the Town of Orchard Park owes you a debt of gratitude for helping to move these projects forward.”
