STATEMENT FROM SENATOR SEAN RYAN ON JANUARY 6th COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING
BUFFALO – Today, June 9, 2022, New York State Senator Sean Ryan released the following statement regarding tonight’s public hearing of the Select Committee to investigate the January 6th attack on the United States Capitol:
“Tonight, the American people witnessed damning evidence of the lies about the 2020 election spread by former President Trump and the reality of the pre-planned attack on our Capitol and our democracy on January 6, 2021. On one of the darkest days in American history, we saw a mob of violent insurrectionists injure and murder members of law enforcement as they sought to prevent the peaceful transition of power. Those who continue to peddle lies about the 2020 election and defend the insurrectionists who attacked our Capitol should be ashamed. I sincerely hope that these public committee hearings are a wakeup call to the American people about how serious the threat to our democracy was on that day. I thank the members of the bipartisan Select Committee for their thoughtful work in defense of our Constitution and the future of our nation.”
