STATEMENT FROM SENATOR SEAN RYAN ON KALEIDA LABOR NEGOTIATIONS
BUFFALO – Today, October 3, 2022, New York State Senator Sean Ryan released the following statement regarding the reported agreement between Kaleida Health and two local labor unions on a new contract for Kaleida’s employees:
“I congratulate the negotiating teams at CWA Local 1168 and 1199SEIU on reaching a deal with Kaleida Health today. We want a better quality of life for everyone in Western New York, and labor unions are on the front lines of that fight. Their tireless efforts have won their members the working conditions and pay that our healthcare heroes deserve. Alleviating staffing shortages at local hospitals will help these workers and, importantly, will lead to better outcomes for the patients they care for every day.
I also thank Kaleida officials for working with the unions to find an agreement that works for both sides and keeps Western New York’s healthcare facilities running. Going forward, I will work with my colleagues to ensure that money from New York’s distressed hospital fund will make its way to Western New York.”
